buenos aires

Since 1974, when Gustavo Moretto, Carlos Riganti and Alex Zuker formed a group called ALAS (Spanish for "wings"), this sophisticated trio has captured the ambience of Buenos Aires by combining the radical styles of Progressive Rock, Tango, Argentine Folk and most Contemporary Classical music.

Their incorporation of the traditional instrument, the bandoneon, had never been tried before in this new musical context and it is still a milestone in the history of Buenos Aires popular music.
Astor Piazzolla
, Argentine Tango Master and internationally renowned musician Pedro Aznar, have praised ALAS for their successful fusion and called them the most sophisticated Argentine progressive band of all time.

new york

In addition to the three original members, Gustavo on piano, Carlos on percussion and Alex on bass, ALAS in New York includes Martin Moretto on guitars and special guests Daniel Binelli and Hector del Curto on bandoneon.

Their repertoire comprises an array of material that has been developed over the years, as well as many compositions from the original formation. The music encompasses sounds coming from the Rio de la Plata area of Buenos Aires. These local rhythms, gestures and musical vocabulary of Tango, add to elements of progressive Jazz and Contemporary music.
